In the first panel, Lem is looking exasperated, his eyes shut and ruffling his own hair with one hand, his cigarette dangling from his mouth. He says, "Look, it's not for me to help you work through your feelings about Cal." In smaller text next to the first speech bubble, he adds, "You shouldn't share that with me -- save it for the therapist."

In the second panel, Fern is sadly looking down at a piece of toast in his hand, apparently working up the will to eat it. Fern says, "Therapist?" as Lem continues to speak from off-panel. "Admittedly, we DID arrange a 'kangaroo court.'" In a smaller speech bubble, Lem adds, "As you put it." Lem continues, "We had nothing set up, and we had to start somewhere."

In the third panel, which has no lineart, Lem continues speaking from off-panel. "I won't get into all the ugly details right now, but Cal was part of the process from start to finish." Lem continues, "He had to be! None of us are powerful enough to compel him to do something he doesn't want to."

In the fourth panel, Fern is chewing and also looking highly skeptical, rolling his eyes and raising one eyebrow. Fern says, "Are you trying to tell me Cal admitted he did bad?" Lem says, "Not right away, but eventually."

In the fourth panel, Lem is thoughtfully smoking, his eyes obscured by his hair. "At first, he submitted himself because he tends to self-pity and isolate after fucking up." He adds in a smaller speech bubble, "You've seen him do that, yeah?" He continues, "We agreed he would be house-bound again, but htis time he was required to properly start his work as elemental of death." In another speech bubble, Lem goes on, "Once he started the work, a lot of things improved."

In the fifth and last panel, Lem is speaking from off-panel, "For him, for us, for everyone."
