Grayling page 0750 Transcription

In the first panel, Fern starts off back to his room humming a cheerful tune.

In the second panel, he stops and looks blankly back at the patient and the flame.

Immediately following in the third panel, Fern says, "Hmm, I don't think I know how to find my way back to my room."

In the fourth panel, the patient says, "Oh, of course! Our mutual friend will show you back." Fern looks happy as he reaches for the door, the little flame following close behind. He says, "Thanks! Good night!"

In the fifth panel, we cut to Fern sleeping peacefully in his bed with a smile on his face, and the little flame hovering above him.

In the sixth panel, the little flame appears to be puzzling something out.

In the seventh panel, the flame does a little loop-de-loop and appears to be excited, having made a decision or found a solution to its dilemma.

In the eight panel, the little flame begins to transform into a more familiar shape of a melcey.

In the ninth panel, we see a blue-purple melcey in the little flame's place, sitting on Fern and checking to make sure he is still asleep. The melcey has little whorls of white on his fur.

In the tenth panel, the melcey has gone to sleep as well.

(Old!Grayling readers should recognize the melcey as Smoke, a character from the old comic.)
