Grayling page 0801 Transcription

In the first panel, morning sunshine peeks through a small, four panel window. The speech bubbles are orange on this page, with a handwritten font that makes it apparent this is a diary entry being written and not dialogue being said. "Dear diary," reads the speech bubble in the first panel.

In the second panel, we see Cal is lying in bed looking at his alarm clock, his hair long and disheveled. The diary goes on, "Here's what I do every day. (So I don't have to keep writing it.)"

In the third panel, Cal is sitting on his bed waking up, his head lowered and his elbows resting on his knees. The diary reads, "I wake up around 4 am."

The fourth and last panel has no text, but it shows Cal tucking his shirt into his pants. The morning sunlight is more dissipated now, making the blue-shadowed room glow. There is a computer on the desk next to Cal's bed and a laundry basket in the foreground.

I love the interest coloring palette choice here. There's something both warm, ominous, and dreamy that really suits the diary aspect.
