The art experiences another shift on this page, looking simpler with an even line weight throughout and very flat coloring. The background and Cal are both blue or white, and Lem and the leek are green. In the first panel, we see Cal from behind. He is holding a leek along the backside of his arm, with the bulb in his palm and the leaves of the leek touching his shoulder blade. Cal's diary reads in the first panel, "It was in the past, when we originally lived together. I was holding a leek a particular way. I felt the leaves on my back and shoulder."

In the second panel, we see a very small Lem in the distance, a little green blob. Cal's diary reads, "I saw Lem in the distance. He was very small."

In the third panel, we get closer to Lem. He's kneeling on the ground with his back towards the viewer/Cal, holding something in front of him. Cal's diary reads, "Green hair, and liquid all around him, on the ground."

In the fourth panel, we see a closeup of Cal's stricken and horrified face as he stares in Lem's direction. His diary continues, "I didn't know what was going on. I didn't want to know. I was terrified."

In the fifth panel, we see Lem holding a sharp implement in his right hand and looking at his empty left hand. Cal's diary reads, "But I had no choice. I went closer"

In the sixth panel, Cal has finally arrived at Lem's position, and we see both of them from the front as Cal looks over Lem's shoulder. Cal looks anxious and shocked, and Lem looks impassive and tired. Cal's dairy reads, "He turned to see."

In the last and seventh panel, Lem turns his head, looking at Cal. Cal's diary finishes, "He looked so empty."
