Grayling page 0866 Transcription

In the first panel, Cal looks a little spooked and intense, staring at Fola/the viewer. "Lem is way more precocious than you think," he says. "He maimed himself many times in pursuit of his interests. He is probably horrified at the prospect you will do the same."

Cal looks a bit more anxious in the second panel, sweat appearing on his cheek as he gestures with his taut left hand. "You might also cause injury to reality as we know it. Like me & my portals & all the other issues this system has... I have to be very careful."

Fola looks a bit tired, but still interested in the third panel, trying to get Cal to stop lecturing him and get on to the other stuff. "That's another thing. Your system," Fola says. "If it's up and running, why are you still locked up in here? They can't hold you forever, can they?"

Cal turns back towards the computer monitor in the fourth panel, his focus returning. "Oh, well..." he says. "To explain that, I should just get started on teaching the whole thing. It's what we're here for, after all. To conclude our digression, consider this the first day of your internship with me." Fola's eyes have also turned towards the monitor, and he responds to Cal, "I will!"

In the last and fifth panel, the computer monitor is in view. It is green with strange, unrecognizable yellow text on the screen, as well as a typing cursor. Cal says, "But, remember, you can't go around saying Lem shouldn't be your primary. It isn't right & won't solve anything." Fola says, "Yes sir...I'll do my best!" Cal continues, "All right then. Let me load up the soul I selected. These get caught in the filters I have had set up all over the world. We can look at those later."
