Grayling page 0871 Transcription

In the first panel, Fola and Cal are hopping through the funky, glitched air of the simulation. Cal continues, "And because it was seminal to life in Faidia, through Lem, everything alive has been grandfathered into its structure."

In the second panel, we are given a view of Fola from slightly beneath him. He gazes up at Cal ahead of him with his lips pressed together, some anxiety in his eyes. Cal says from off-panel, "It could also be a bridge to other worlds like our own."

Cal and Fola stand on a cable again in the third panel, Cal leaning over an access hatch to open it. "But it's a very dangerous thing to permit young beings to access," he says. "We primaries have a theory the lagoon may have taken certain subconscious wishes of ours and made them manifest in the world. So some weird things happened without us meaning it." Fola looks around nervously, twiddling his thumbs through his space suit while Cal works and talks.

Cal opens the access hatch in the fourth panel, his chagrined expression seen in profile as he looks inside the opened hatch. "Lem there's that's where elementals came from, in fact," Cal continues. "It could be that some passing thought caused this world to start manifesting avatars of its magic in people, creating elementals. If that's the case...if we had been aware of what we were doing, we would have made better decisions." Fola is seen from behind in the foreground, gazing at Cal.
